Kalle Kuusava conducted The Taming of the Shrew last December and January to the music of Shostakovich, choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot.
The ballet premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in 2014 and received the three Golden Masks , the highest Russian theatre award. The piece, which is now touring around the world, has returned to Monaco, this time re-appropriated by Jean-Christophe Maillot for the dancers of the Ballet de Monte-Carlo.
The ballet and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Maestro Kuusava, have received praise from the press.
